~ Best of Johor Bahru ~ (Itinerary)

Get ready to set off !
8:45am Pick up from Singapore (Immigration clearance:45min)

First stop
Tan Hiok Nee Cultural Street - A century of heritage
At the corner of Tan Hiok Nee street is 锦华茶餐室@ Restoran Kin Hua
who withstood the onslaught of time, accumulating more than half a century's worth of history. The only decorations are peel-offs from walls that have been around before even you and I were born. The unpretentious cafe (or kopitiam, as locals call it) serves comfort food such as coffee, toasted bread and soft boiled eggs which most Malaysians adore. Just be warned and prepared to wait for a table on a weekend morning ! You may even spot yours truly waiting :)

Don't miss out the unassuming bakery opposite Restoran Kin Hua while you are waiting for a table. Hiap Joo Bakery & Biscuit (协裕面包西果厂) has been around for 80 years and does not pale in comparison with it's illustrious neighbour. With the only coal-fired stove left in Johor Bahru, Hiap Joo has churned out countless mouth-watering, fresh banana cakes that will only leave you wanting for more.

Second stop
World's First Hindu "Glass" Temple

Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Hindu Temple was built in 1928,and is the oldest Hindu shrine within Johor Bahru。The committee holds true to the tradition of having a facelift for the temple every 12 years. In August 2007, the temple decided on having glass as a themeand had used over 500k pieces of it as mosaics, earning it the title "Hindu Glass Temple"。

Third stop
Traditional coal fired claypot Shun Fa Bak Kut Teh

If you want a taste of the best Bak kut Teh in town, it has to be Shun Fa Bak Kut Teh. If the crowd is any indication of its yummuy-licious food, then it will tip the scale by any standards. Just check out the countless locals and foreigners queuing up ! Shun Fa has to date more than 20 branches located nationwide which includes Malacca and our capital city - Kuala Lumpur !
Tips: If you want to escape from the tropical heat, they have an air-conditioned section now.

Fourth stop
Malaysia's Largest Agricultural Theme Park

Visit the Desaru Fruit Farm dubbed "Malaysia's Largest Agricultural Theme Park", where your family can get a step closer to Mother Nature. Experience and see for yourself how the Fauna & Flora flourishes under the tropical weather. Remember to check out the King/Queen of fruits too !
In addition, Desaru Fruit Farm have a petting zoo for your kids to get in close proximity with domesticated animals (e.g. rabbits, owl, goats, chickens etc) .. I'm sure they will love it !

Fifth stop
Ostrich Farm

Ever seen the largest egg in the world ?
Ever seen the largest bird in the world ?
Have you ever ride on an ostrich, or stand on it's egg ? Come experience it for yourself and witness over 600 ostriches roaming freely within the farm. If you are keen, you can even listen to the caretaker's tale of his passion for the big birds !

Sixth stop
Kampung Sungai Rengit, Pengerang Seafood

The idyllic Sungai Rengit is a small fishing village to the South-Eastern part of Johor. Singaporeans and locals alike come together to enjoy the cheap and fresh seafood - especially the crown of them all "baby lobsters". There are many ways to prepare the crustacean, but OKGOJB highly recommends the "Baby Lobsters with vanilla sauce". It's a truly unique flavor and you have to try it to believe it.

For reference: 四湾岛龙虾海鲜餐

Final stop
Highlight of the trip - Kota Tinggi Firefly Park

Lastly, take a boat ride with us for the highlight of the tour - Kota Tinggi Firefly. Experience it for yourself, flanked on both sides of the river by the little twinkling stars from Heaven. It's the Nature's version of a Christmas Tree.
